A “serious” crash has forced the closure of a major road in Wolverhampton.

The A449 carriageway into the city from the M54 junction, is sealed off between Springfield Lane and Bee Lane.

West Midlands Police said the road closure would remain in place for several hours and motorists have been advised to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

The force also advised motorists to allow extra time for their journey, with the crash exacerbating the aftermath of Storm Goretti.
