According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Titans are sending defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat to the Jets in exchange for edge rusher Jermaine Johnson.

“Trade: the New York Jets are sending DE Jermaine Johnson to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for DT T’Vondre Sweat, per ESPN sources,” Schefter reported.

Schefter adds that the trade cannot be made official until the start of the new league year, which falls on March.

Why Sweat-Johnson trade happened

The Jets unloaded Quinnen Williams in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys last offseason that left the team with a gaping hole up the middle.

Meanwhile, the cupboard was bare at edge rusher in Tennessee and Johnson gives the Titans some much-needed firepower at the position.
