Western NC school closings, delays, remote learning today, Feb. 23

Western North Carolina received a dusting of snow on Feb. 22 in some areas, prompting more school closures, remote learning and delayed start days Feb. 23. Some of the higher elevation counties near the Tennessee border are receiving weather forecasts of accumulating snow, freezing temperatures and high winds, making Monday morning travel conditions more dangerous.

And they are not the only schools that have used the allotted virtual days after the mountains of North Carolina were hit with back-to-back winter storm systems that dumped ice, snow, freezing rain and other winter precipitation.

The additional dusting of snow on Feb. 5 prompted schools across the mountains to announce delays, closings once again for Thursday, Feb. 5.
