Vietnam enter U23 Asian Cup semifinals after defeating UAE in extra time

Vietnam edged United Arab Emirates 3–2 after extra time to secure a place in the semifinals following a tense, eventful match.

The teams were level after 90 minutes, trading goals in a closely contested first half and again after the break. Vietnam struck first through Nguyen Le Phat after a brilliant solo run by Nguyen Dinh Bac, but the UAE quickly replied via Junior Ndiaye.

In the second half, Vietnam got ahead in the 62nd minute with Dinh Bac’s header, but UAE responded six minutes later with another header goal from Mansoor Almenhali.

With the score tied 2–2 at full time, the match went into extra time, where Vietnam regained the lead through Pham Minh Phuc, whose shot deflected off a defender and left the UAE keeper helpless.

Vietnam then tightened their defense, making late substitutions to protect the advantage, and survived UAE pressure to see out a hard-fought 3–2 victory and advance to the semifinals.
