It’s official – you can now fly nonstop from Rhode Island International Airport to Cancun, Mexico on Breeze.

GoLocal was at the gate for the first flight on Saturday afternoon, where the airport hosted a party for passengers.

“I’m so excited about how convenient it is to get there from here,” said Matea Marinello, a student at La Salle Academy who was traveling with her family.

Marinello said she left their house in North Kingstown at 10 in the morning, and the trip to the airport was “only about 15 minutes away.”

And getting to the gate once she was at the airport was just as quick.

“We checked our bags and went through TSA in about 15 minutes. It was easy,” said Marinello.

Limited Run

According to the airport, this test route to Cancun marks a significant milestone for Breeze Airways, as it ventures into the international market out of PVD.

“However, the limited-time nature of the service means passengers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity while it lasts,” said the airport.

Flights conclude mid-April; book tickets here
