A police officer was critically injured Thursday, Feb. 27, after an incident in Parkway Village.
There is a huge police scene on South Perkins Road and Aloha Avenue. Law enforcement is also present at Regional One Health.
City councilmember JB Smiley said on social media that a Memphis police officer had been shot during a traffic stop.
The Memphis Police Department has not released details about what happened or led to the incident.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation issued a Blue Alert just before midnight, Thursday, Feb. 27, and identified 40-year-old Danell Maxwell as a primary suspect. He is a 5-foot-10 Black male who weighs approximately 180 pounds.
Maxwell is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about the incident or Maxwell’s whereabouts is asked to call 1-800-TBI-FIND or 901-528-2274.
