Seahawks Elevate RB Cam Akers & T Amari Kight From Practice Squad For Week 17 Game at Carolina

CHARLOTTE—The Seahawks elevated running back Cam Akers and tackle Amari Kight ahead of their Week 17 game against the Carolina Panthers.

This is the second straight elevation for both players, and third overall this season for Kight.

Akers, who signed with Seattle in November, made his Seahawks debut last week, playing four snaps on special teams. A 2020 second-round pick of the Rams, he has appeared in 57 career games with 17 starts, rushing for 2,044 yards and 13 touchdowns on 507 carries. He gives the Seahawks a third running back behind Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet with usual No. 3 back George Holani currently on injured reserve.

Kight, an undrafted rookie out of UCF, gives the Seahawks added depth at tackle with starting left tackle Charles Cross out due to a hamstring injury. Josh Jones, who is usually the swing tackle behind Cross and Abraham Lucas, is expected to make his second straight start in place of Cross.
