One of Us: Chip Trayanum is still throwing Ls Down ahead of the Bean Bowl

Just when you thought the stakes couldn’t get higher in the world-renowned Bush’s Boca Raton Bowl of Beans, a former Cat is stoking sparks of the Governor’s Cup rivalry with the Louisville Cardinals.

On Tuesday, Toledo will take on Louisville in Boca Raton. The Cards are 7.5-point favorites on BetMGM, with kickoff set for 2 PM on ESPN.

There is a somewhat familiar face on the opposing sideline for the Cards. Toledo’s star running back wore a Kentucky uniform last fall. In 2025, Chip Trayanum averaged 95 yards per game on the ground, the second-best mark in the MAC this season, while scoring 11 rushing touchdowns and two through the air.

Ahead of Tuesdays’ game, the Boca Raton Bowl hosted a luncheon where Trayanum took questions from reporters alongside Louisville quarterback Miller Moss. According to Jody Demling, once the Q&A concluded, Trayanum left the stage throwing his Ls Down. One of us.

Trayanum has been exceptional this year for the Rockets, but his experience with (and against) Kentucky did not go well. The running back suffered a hand injury ahead of the 2024 campaign. It sidelined him for much longer than expected. By the time he took the field, the season was lost. He only logged 19 carries as a Wildcat, with four coming in the blowout loss to Louisville in the final game of the regular season. Trayanum actually got a shot against his former team to open the 2025 season, but the Cats bottled up the Toledo running back, limiting him to 41 rushing yards and 42 receiving yards.

The physical running back did not get to throw Ls Down in a win over Louisville in 2024. He’ll get a chance to do it tomorrow in the Boca Raton Bowl.

Beans for Boca Raton Bowl Admission

The best part of bowl season is the silliness. The Pop-Tarts Bowl sets the standard with hijinks. The Boca Raton Bowl has never been a prolific postseason matchup, which is why it makes sense to steer into the skid with a new sponsor.

The Bush’s Boca Raton Bowl of Beans is offering free admission to the first 2,000 fans who bring a can of Bush’s Beans to the game. For only about $1.50 a pop, it’s the best deal in bowl season, and a great idea to get butts in seats for the game in South Florida between Louisville and Toledo.
