Nipsey Hussle’s ‘Marathon Burger’ to open new Long Beach location – NBC Los Angeles

An established burger joint will soon fire up the grill in Long Beach when it opens its newest location Sunday.

Marathon Burger, a restaurant chain developed by the brother of late rapper and activist Nipsey Hussle, will flip patties at its fourth Los Angeles County location on Pine Avenue in downtown Long Beach.

Samiel Asghedom, Hussle’s brother, developed the restaurant to continue his legacy, vision and the Marathon brand after Hussle was shot and killed in 2019.

“Hard work, determination – Nothing is going to come easy,” Asghedom said. “Day by day, everybody is on their own marathon in their own life.”

Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, built his brand around music and fashion.

Asghedom has continued his brother’s vision through food, choosing Long Beach to reinvest in the community he grew up in.

“That was Hussle’s mission, to make sure people know and do not lose sight,” Asghedom said.

The restaurant was built in partnership with Snoop Dogg, Long Beach native, and his son, Cordell.

The father-son duo joined Asghedom as investors to bring the new location to life.

“Snoop and his son Cordell introduced us to the mayor and made it easy to come to this space and to bring Marathon Burger to Long Beach,” Asghedom said.

The restaurant is known for its gourmet smash burgers, which Asghedom said feature a special secret sauce.

Snoop Dogg was expected to attend the restaurant’s opening this weekend.
