Multiple crashes and rollovers snarl traffic in Folsom

(FOX40.COM) — Traffic on U.S. Highway 50 through Folsom was reduced to one lane and severely congested on Thursday afternoon after a series of crashes, including multiple rollover collisions.

According to the California Highway Patrol, East Sacramento Division, six to seven crashes were reported between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on westbound and eastbound Highway 50 between East Bidwell Street and Folsom Boulevard.

CHP said several crashes occurred within a short span, prompting lane restrictions as emergency crews worked to clear the roadway.

One crash involved three that occurred on westbound Highway 50 just west of East Bidwell Street. Those involved reported complaints of pain but no serious injuries, according to CHP.

A second crash involved two vehicles and a rollover on westbound Highway 50 just east of Prairie City Road. CHP stated that those involved also reported complaints of pain only.

A third incident involved a solo vehicle crash on the eastbound side of Highway 50 in the same general area, authorities said.

All crashes were cleared by early evening, CHP said, but traffic remained slow and jammed in both directions between East Bidwell Street and Folsom Boulevard as crews worked to reopen lanes.

CHP added that there were no serious injuries reported.
