Man shot and killed in North Philly on Monday night, police say – NBC10 Philadelphia

A man was shot and killed in North Philadelphia just before 8 p.m. on Monday night, police said.

Officers responded to a reported shooting at the 3600 block of North 17th Street at 7:57 p.m., where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds inside a 2008 silver Nissan Maxima, police said.

The man, who police identified on Tuesday as Dion Travis Abraham, 39, of Abington, was suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and legs, according to police.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where, officials said Abraham was pronounced at about 8:25 p.m. on Monday.

No arrests or motives have been announced by police at this time, but homicide detectives are investigating the shooting.

According to police statistics, as of Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, there were 220 reported homicides in Philadelphia in 2025, down more than 16% from the same time last year which ultimately had the lowest number of homicides in the city in a decade.
