Over six months into their unexpected romance, Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau have apparently “gotten much more serious” as 2026 kicked off.
After first sparking dating rumors last July, the singer and the former Canadian Prime Minister made their public debut as a couple on Perry’s 41st birthday in Paris on October 25; the two became Instagram official on December 6 and haven’t been shy about their relationship since.

This relationship is more than just casual, a source told Entertainment Tonight. “He is supportive of her and encouraging, and she feels confident about herself with him,” the insider shared.
“Justin came into Katy’s life at the perfect time,” the source continued. “She is smitten with him.”

The two began dating soon after Perry’s split from Orlando Bloom, to whom she was engaged and with whom she shares 5-year-old daughter Daisy Dove. Trudeau, for his part, separated from Sophie Grégoire Trudeau in 2023 after three children and 18 years of marriage.
Calling their relationship an “exciting surprise” for Perry, a source told People in December that “the only reason this turned into something real is because Justin has been so persistent. She wasn’t looking to date when they first hung out, and she certainly wasn’t looking for a boyfriend.”

“He’s shown her over and over again that he genuinely wants to see her,” the insider added. “He’s flown all over the world to spend time with her while she toured. She likes spending time with him. She’s flattered that he’s made such a big effort, and she’s excited to be dating him.”

A source speaking to Us Weekly clarified that Perry and Trudeau “are very smitten and into each other,” adding that Perry is “really inspired” by Trudeau and “impressed by his accomplishments.”
“He’s a great match for her,” the insider said.
