Is the IRS open on Presidents’ Day? Where’s my refund?
The IRS is closed on Presidents’ Day, Feb. 16 as it is an observed federal holiday with offices, walk-in services and phone lines unavailable for live services. However online services, including tools to check refund status, make payments and electronic filing systems will continue to accept submissions which will be processed when staff returns on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Are banks and the U.S. stock market open on Presidents’ Day?
Most banks are closed on Presidents’ Day, one of 11 federal holidays recognized by the Federal Reserve during the year. ATM’s and online banking are still available for customers.
The U.S. stock market, Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange, will not be trading Monday.
Is the post office open, is there mail on Presidents’ Day?
The U.S. Postal Service has suspended mail services for all regular mail deliveries and retail transactions on Presidents’ Day. However, Priority Express mail will be delivered on the holiday.
DHL, FedEx and UPS are scheduled to be open for business. FedEx may have modified drop box hours for some locations.
Are government offices open on Presidents’ Day?
Most nonessential federal and state employees have the day off, as courthouses, city halls, motor vehicle agencies, public schools, and libraries are closed.
Are grocery stores open on Presidents’ Day?
Grocery stores and pharmacies typically remain open for Presidents’ Day. This goes for most big box retailers, such as Walmart, Target, Kroger and Costco.
Fitness centers should also remain open for members to work out, and hospitals as well, though some Veterans Affairs centers may be closed.
Are fast-food restaurants open on Presidents Day?
Most restaurants, including fast food locations are open on Presidents’ Day. According to DoorDash, it is also one of their busiest delivery days.
