The New York Giants are expected to begin making roster cuts (and potentially restructures) this week.
The Giants currently have approximately $2.8 million in cap space for the 2026 season (per sources like OverTheCap and Spotrac, against a league cap of $301.2 million). New York faces significant challenges in free agency, with 21 unrestricted free agents and several restricted free agents set to hit the open market.
The Athletic’s Dan Duggan reports that the Giants are poised to start making roster adjustments with nine days left until the free-agency negotiation window opens on March 11 (the new league year).
Giants players eligible for restructures include defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, cornerback Paulson Adebo, and defensive lineman Chauncey Golston. New York could potentially create substantial savings by restructuring these contracts—up to $8.85 million from Lawrence’s deal, $8.14 million from Adebo’s, and $2.04 million from Golston’s—all players coming off down seasons in 2025.
Cut could include kicker Graham Gano, linebacker Bobby Okereke, and running back Devin Singletary, among others.
In terms of cap allocation and potential targets, the Giants have shown interest in marquee free agents, such as Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III, who carries an estimated market value of around $9 million annually in free agency.
These potential moves reflect the team’s efforts to create flexibility amid a tight cap situation and a large group of impending free agents.
