The series finale ofGame of Thrones had many fans and even some of the cast unhappy with the way things ended, but Sophie Turner wasn’t one of them.
The actress, who famously played Sansa Stark on the hit HBO fantasy series, revealed in a new interview that she was pleased with her character’s fate by the end of the show, but she was one of the only actors to feel that way.
“But I feel that I was very happy with the way Sansa ended her story in Game of Thrones,” Turner, 29, said during a recent conversation with The Direct. “No one else was really happy with their ending.”
The series finale of GOT was the lowest-rated episode in all 8 of its seasons, per IMDb, with a number of main characters meeting a less-than-ideal fate. (See Daenerys Targaryen {Emilia Clarke} or Jon Snow {Kit Harringon}).
But as for Turner’s character, Sansa Stark ends the series by becoming Queen of the North, after it is established as its own kingdom. Her younger brother, Bran Stark (played by Isaac Hempstead Wright) is elected King of the remaining Six Kingdoms of Westeros.
“I feel like I got a good one, and so I don’t know if I could revisit it,” Turner explained while weighing in on the possibility of returning to a GOT sequel, something she believes “would be hard but also amazing.”
As a result, Turner said she would need to see a script before making any decisions, as to not tarnish her character’s powerful ending.
“Maybe it would be an utter joy, or maybe it would be trying to cling on to something that was magic back in the day that can’t be recreated,” she stated. “I would have to see a script.”
