David Muir’s $7 million lakeside retreat revealed as neighbors share what he’s really like

David Muir, the host of ABC World News Tonight, splits his time between his New York City apartment and his $7 million historic lakeside home in the upstate town of Skaneateles

When he’s off-screen, David Muir lives a secluded life on the lake.

The ABC World News Tonight host, 52, splits his time between his New York City apartment and his historic lakeside home in Skaneateles, an upscale town in New York’s Finger Lakes region. In 2019, he fulfilled a “lifelong dream” by buying the property.

“This job takes me all over the world, and I can’t think of a better place to catch my breath,” David previously said during an interview with Kelly Ripa, a close friend of his. While many of his fans know of his close circle in Hollywood, very few know who he spends his time with in his upstate home, until now. It comes after David issued a bombshell 4-word message as he stepped away from the ABC desk live on air.

Cheryl Foster, one of his neighbors, hinted that David might have someone special in his life. “I know he has a dog,” she shared, before getting defensive when asked if he has a partner.

“It’s no one’s business,” Cheryl responded.

From the exterior, David’s white house appears to have at least three floors. The black shutters surrounded every window on the sides of the white, pillared entrance.

Built in 1890, the 4,300-square-foot property boasts six bedrooms, two kitchens, three bathrooms, and a fireplace. It also comes with a pool and classic architecture.

He bought the home in 2019 for $7 million.

The host is native to the upstate area of New York. He originally grew up in Syracuse, where he began his career as a newscaster.

When he was young, David visited local newsrooms with his father, Ronald, before becoming an intern at the age of 14.

“I was a total nerd,” he admitted on Live with Kelly and Mark. “In the backyard, everyone was playing. And I’d be out there too, but then I’d be like, ‘I gotta go inside, it’s time for the news!’ So I’d go in and watch the news.

“I’m grateful to everybody in that newsroom because, this is what we all have to remember, this was just a kid with a dream, and they let me show up,” he mentioned. “And there was a new news director, I got in when there was no boss. That was the only reason a kid at that age could get in.”

His early experience in the newsroom left him with a perspective he still uses to this day.

“They convinced the new boss to let me keep coming, so I’m grateful to them. And I always try to remember that, when people write to us or reach out to us,” the host added.

After graduating from Ithaca College, he made his debut as a reporter working for WTVH-TV, nine years before joining ABC News full-time.

It comes after Muir’s viewers fumed “we trusted you” as he dropped a shocking new revelation live on air.
