Countdown to tipoff: South Carolina at Georgia

South Carolina will hit the road on Saturday as it travels to Athens to take on Georgia. Tipoff is set for 3:30 p.m. and will be televised on SEC Network.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams this season as the Bulldogs (19-9, 7-8) took down the Gamecocks (12-16, 3-12) in Columbia by a score of 75-70. The Gamecocks are coming off a 72-63 loss to Kentucky on Tuesday while the Bulldogs fell to Vanderbilt by a score of 88-80 in Nashville on Wednesday.

South Carolina notes

— In the first matchup between the two teams, South Carolina shot 41 percent from the floor and 29 percent from three. The Gamecocks led by as much as 12 late in the first half while holding a lead for 22:23 of the matchup, but couldn’t fend off the Bulldogs.

— Against the Bulldogs, Mike Sharavjamts led the Gamecocks in scoring with 18 points while also pulling six rebounds. Eli Ellis finished with 13 points and seven rebounds while Meechie Johnson and Kobe Knox were also in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Knox logged a double-double with 10 rebounds while Johnson led the team in assists with five.

— In the loss to Kentucky, the Gamecocks shot 37 percent from the field and 28 percent from three on 8-of-29 shooting. The Wildcats, who shot 39 percent from the floor, out-rebounded the Gamecocks, 48-28, including pulling 18 offensive boards, which were turned into 14 second-chance points.

— In road games this season, South Carolina owns a 1-7 record with the one win coming against LSU.

— Myles Stute remains out for Saturday’s matchup as he missed the Kentucky game due to concussion protocol.
