A look at the curling standings after Tuesday’s play in Cortina

Women’s Curling

Sweden suffered a first loss in Cortina, but still maintained the top spot in the standings. At 6-1, they’ve clinched a spot in the semifinals and is the first team officially moving on in the tournament with two round-robin games remaining.

The U.S. and Switzerland picked up wins on Tuesday to move into a two-way tie for 2nd place at 5-2 each. Both teams also have two round-robin games left to play.

Canada and South Korea, both 4-3, are tied for 4th and embroiled in a tight battle for the final semifinal spot. There’s a chance the battle could come down to the very last game, as the two teams will play each other on Thursday, the final session of play.

Denmark (3-4) is currently 6th in the standings, followed by China and Great Britain — tied for 7th — are both 2-4.

With two straight wins, Italy (2-5) has moved to 9th, and Japan (1-6) is alone in 10th.

There are three sessions of round-robin play remaining. After every team has played each other, the top four teams will move on to the semifinals, which will be played on Friday, Feb. 20, at 8:05 a.m. ET.
