Viall has said that fatherhood gives him “more meaning and purpose”
Nick Viall may have risen to fame as a reality TV bad boy, but these days, he’s happy to be a girl dad to his daughter River Rose and his twins on the way.
After appearing on The Bachelorette twice, Bachelor in Paradise and The Bachelor, Viall finally found love with Natalie Joy when she famously slid into his DMs in 2020. After getting engaged in January 2023, the couple welcomed River in February 2024 and got married two months later in April. In February 2026, the Age of Attraction co-hosts announced they were expecting twin girls.
In April 2024, Viall told PEOPLE he hasn’t “changed all that much” after becoming a dad, but that parenthood “certainly has given [him] even more meaning and more purpose.”
“It’s hard to be mad for any long period of time, knowing I get to go home to my daughter and raise her,” he said. “I love everything about fatherhood, so I wouldn’t change a thing.”

Viall and Joy announced they were expecting their first child together in August 2023, writing in a joint Instagram post that the news was their “biggest dream came true.”
Later that month, Joy told PEOPLE how she shared the exciting news with Viall. “I took two positive pregnancy tests, got a couple of baby outfits, and put them in a drawer, knowing Nick would open it when we were making dinner,” she revealed. “He was shocked, to say the least.”
In September of that year, they revealed they were having a baby girl.
The pregnancy was tough on Joy, who revealed on The Viall Files in February 2024 that, “My entire first trimester, I was like, ‘Nick. I will never do this again, like this will be your one child unless we go surrogacy because I will never go through this.’ It was that bad.” Luckily, her second trimester was “blissful,” while her third was just “uncomfortable.”
River Rose Viall was born on Feb. 2, 2024. A month prior, Viall told PEOPLE that River’s “middle name is inspired by family, and her first name is a name that Natalie came up with and I thought it was great and we just kind of stuck with it.”
The couple married two months later at Joy’s family farm in Georgia, with River being part of their special day. Photos of the ceremony showed Viall in a tux carrying his little girl in a lacy white dress and matching bonnet. River also joined them on their honeymoon to Turks and Caicos.

Viall has spoken about bonding with his daughter via bedtimes.
“I put her to bed most nights because I wanted to be that calming presence and that’s something we started doing,” he said during an April 2025 episode of his podcast. He recalled a touching moment when his mom visited and tried to put to bed — but River wasn’t having it.
“River started crying and crying and crying and she was throwing a fit with my mom,” he said. “Finally I was like, ‘All right, I’ll help her out.’ And River just threw herself at me and she goes, ‘Hi, Dadda.’ And it was like the best moment ever and it really was like, ‘Finally, now I’m connecting with my daughter.’ ”
River turned 2 in February 2026, and Viall celebrated by sharing a touching tribute to his “miracle baby” on Instagram.
“I can think of countless moments of heartbreak, disappoint, and failures throughout my life … but the day you arrived, I knew that all those moments became part of my journey that lead me to the miracle that is you,” he said.

Viall and Joy often discussed wanting to grow their family even more, saying in a March 2025 post on her Instagram Stories that they “would love to give River a sibling whenever the time comes.”
Unfortunately, it wasn’t an easy journey: The couple suffered three miscarriages in 2025. Joy opened up about the experience on their podcast in January 2025, calling their second miscarriage “the biggest heartbreak, I think, of my life,” adding, “I’ve never experienced something where I feel so empty inside.”
After the third miscarriage, she told listeners that she was “working very closely with my doctors that I love and trust” in an attempt to avoid “experiencing this heartbreak for a fourth time.”

In February 2026, the couple announced that they were expecting not one, but two babies.
“Our rainbow babies are finally ready to join us and this time it’s TWINS 🌈🌈,” they shared in a joint post on Instagram. River even helped with the announcement, posing for photos in a sweater that said “big sister” on it.
Weeks later on Feb. 19, the pair revealed the sex of their babies. The sweet video, which the couple shared in a joint post on Instagram, shows Joy and River looking on excitedly as Viall pops two black balloons, each filled with little pink balloons and confetti.
