Downed tree on tracks causes LIRR delays

KEW GARDENS, Queens (WABC) — Long Island Rail Road service was temporarily delayed Wednesday morning after a tree fell onto the tracks at Kew Gardens.

The tree fell from private property onto the tracks, causing LIRR to skip Woodside, Forest Hills, and Kew Gardens stations at the start of the morning commute.

“Eastbound Main Line trains will continue to bypass Kew Gardens only while our crews safely remove debris from the platform,” the LIRR said.

Workers have now removed the downed tree, and service has been restored.
