Enhypen member Heeseung is leaving the band, agency Belift Lab said Tuesday.
The remaining six members will continue activities as Enhypen, with Heeseung set to release solo music under Belift Lab.
“The company discussed the band’s future and goals with Enhypen,” Belift Lab said in a statement. “In the process, it was determined that Heeseung has a clear musical direction he wishes to pursue, and we decided to respect his decision.”
The agency refrained from stating specific details, but said it was a “decision made after long and careful consideration.”
“The six years I’ve spent [as a member of Enhypen] have been filled with moments so overwhelming and precious that they’re hard to put into words,” Heeseung was quoted as saying by the agency in a message to fans.
“As you all know, I’ve continued working on personal projects and spent a lot of time hoping I could one day share them […] I also feel very sorry knowing this news may have shocked or worried you.”
He said he is working on new music and would “return with a better side” of himself as a solo artist.
Enhypen was formed in 2020 through Mnet’s television music survival show “I-Land.” It debuted with the EP “Border: Day One” the same year and has since released songs including “Given-Taken” (2020), “Drunk-Dazed” (2021) and “Tamed-Dashed” (2021).
