Portland Trail Blazers center Donovan Clingan was ejected with 3:14 left in the second quarter against the Memphis Grizzlies on March 4 after picking up a Flagrant 2 foul.
Clingan was being closely guarded by Olivier-Maxence Prosper when he tried to perform a rip-through move and led with his elbow. He struck Prosper in the face, leading to Prosper hitting the floor and stopping the play.
The contact was deemed excessive.
Clingan was off to a dominant start against an undersized Memphis frontcourt. He had seven points, nine rebounds and three blocks before leaving the game.
Prosper was down on the floor until medical assistance came. He later walked off under his own power and returned to the game.
