Antari Atmospherics Deliver Arena-Ready Haze for Carrie Underwood at Providence College Late Night Madness
USA – Providence College kicked off Homecoming Weekend with a packed Late-Night Madness event at the Amica Mutual Pavilion, headlined by a performance from country singer and songwriter Carrie Underwood. The annual celebration, filled with students and open to the public, featured full-scale concert production supported by Audio Spectrum, Inc., including Antari atmospheric equipment that helped elevate the visual experience.
Audio Spectrum served as the full production provider for the event covering audio, lighting, video, rigging, staging and special effects, as well as the primary staffing for each department. The lighting team deployed one Antari F-8 Typhon and two HZ-1000 hazers to create consistent, dynamic atmospherics throughout the arena.
According to Audio Spectrum’s L2 lighting technician Jade Angulo, the F-8’s output made an immediate impression. “The F-8 is very intense and runs smooth. Even at 35% I was impressed with the amount of haze filling the room. Even powering this thing up in the shop, its output and ability to fill a space quickly is impressive.”
Before the show, the team compared the F-8 to their standard F-7 and the workhorse HZ-1000, testing output and hang time using the same FLG fluid. “The F-8’s massive output and overall hang time made the decision easy,” Audio Spectrum’s lighting director Dan Hopper, noted. “It was the right supplement to the two HZ-1000s already planned for the show.”
For the event, the F-8 was placed upstage centre, while the two HZ-1000 units were positioned upstage left and right. Haze was used consistently throughout the performance, with occasional boosts from the F-8 to enhance lighting moments. The unit integrated seamlessly into Audio Spectrum’s DMX control, running in two-channel mode for independent fan and haze control.
The Audio Spectrum team is looking into expanding its inventory of F-8 units in the future. “It fills a key gap in our atmospheric offerings, especially for outdoor and large arena or stadium events,” Hopper said. Which will be a great service to their customers base in the north-eastern region.
