Tuesday at the Olympics concluded with the women’s figure skating short program — and it was a mixed bag for the Americans.
World champion Alysa Liu had a beautiful program and is in third going into the free skate. Isabeau Levito is in eighth, and three-time national champion Amber Glenn is in 13th. Glenn started off strong, nailing her triple axel, but missed a combination later in her program, which hurt her score.
A trio of Japanese skaters are in the top four, with Ami Nakai, Kaori Sakamoto and Mone Chiba in first, second and fourth, respectively.
The freestyle skiing men’s big air medal round resulted in American Mac Forehand taking home silver. He’s just the second American to medal in the event after a final round that included two 95s and a 98.25.
